“Civil Discourse on Polarized Campuses”
October 14-16, 2024
University of Alabama at Birmingham

Join us for the 4th Conference of the Consortium of Higher Education Centers for Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Studies to discuss the role our centers can play facilitating civil discourse and foster belonging during polarized political times, learn about best practices on leadership and stewardship, and network with other center directors.

Keynote speaker: Catherine Coleman Flowers, founding director of the Center for Rural Enterprise and Environmental Justice (formerly the Alabama Center for Rural Enterprise)

Other program highlights include sessions on how to facilitate civil discourse, responsibilities of our centers to combat hate, how to discuss race and racism, and workshops on budgeting, fundraising, grant writing, donor relations, and more. Visit civil rights sites in Birmingham (Birmingham Civil Rights Institute) and Montgomery (Legacy Museum, Lynching Memorial, and more) and discuss how our local context impacts our work.
